So sad

Another victim of the recession: one of my most favorite magazines is not going to be printed anymore. My mail is going to be much less exciting now.

Dear Ole' Dad

First of all is this not the cutest picture ever? I tried taking a picture of my pup with the no red eye thingy on the camera, but the pre-flash made him make this face which is actually really cute because he looks like he is sleeping sitting up. I have always thought my baby should be a dog model, so if anyone had any modeling jobs for him...
...So moving on, my Dad came in town to pay me a visit this weekend, and he took care of scraping off the rest of the wallpaper I had left in my guest bedroom. Hmmm, was that a hint that he was tired of visiting and staying in a half done room? Well whatever his motives the room is now ready to be primed and painted which are luckily things I procratinate less about than scraping wallpaper. Next weekend I think I have a date with some paintbrushes and rollers!
So this picture is from the very first time I saw the house. As you can see there is some striped wallpaper that we think was from when they built my condos (in the seventies).

The wallpaper proved very difficult to peel and once my remodeling burnout set in I decided I was ok with having my walls look like this if it meant I didn't have to scrape anymore wallpaper.

Lucky for me my Dad came, peeled the wallpaper away and now I can paint the walls. Stay tuned for updates.

I said brrrrr

So the weather here is out of control. It became super icy a few days ago, but because it was almost 70 degrees over the weekend it didn't stick to the roads. But the ice did stick to everything else. Including all the trees around my complex! I couldn't even walk from the parking lot to my front door. And then once I got to my front door there was a tree right in front of it. The ice didn't melt and go away until two days later. Let me tell you, it was not easy taking my dog to the groomer and carrying him so he didn't get his wet paws on my work clothes as I dodged low icy trees and tried not to fall in high heels. Good thing its going to be almost 60 degrees for the next few days, we wouldn't want to have consistent weather or anything like that.

Also blocking the way out my front door

What I saw when I opened my front door!

Feeling Blue

I firmly believe that some people are pink people, when they buy things they buy the item in pink if it is available, and some people are blue people, same idea but they buy the blue item. I'm a blue person all the way and I knew when I bought my first place I wanted my bedroom to be blue. I took my bedding (which had blue stripes) into the store picked the paint color that matched the best and painted away. Then the movers brought my furniture, I unpacked, pulled out my bedding, and put together the room that I was sure would look perfect. The perfection wasn't there, it didn't look horrible but it was not the bedroom of my dreams. I think I got a bit too matchy matchy on this one.

Now this picture was taken before I put anything on the walls or even had everything unpacked, but even after many months living in it the room never won me over. So what's a girl to do when her bedding doesn't work? Get new bedding, of course. My wonderful mother got all the hints I sent her way (I wonder if it was all the emails or the strategically placed catalog picture I left in the guest room when she came to visit?) and bought the bedding I had been lusting after for my Christmas present. I hate to admit it, but what I needed was something not blue. The results are the perfection I was looking for at long last. I guess liking other colors than blue is ok, but don't expect me to be paiting anything pink anytime soon, that might be too big of a step even for me.
