Beating the heat:stylishly

Ok, it is 85 MILLION degrees outside these days. I needed some style inspiration for good ways to look cute and beat the heat. Enter my girl crush the lovely and fab Reese Witherspoon. She always looks so great. I'll be channeling her this summer 110%. Oh and I have no clue where these pics are from, sorry.
For travel

For work
For play
And my personal fav that I will be recreating 4th of July weekend (minus the sweater of course).

Have a great weekend my lovlies. I am off to go and find a straw fedora. Later!

Dad's Day and some other stuff

Happy Father's Day to my Dad!!

You've always been there to take care of the things I forget to deal with like oil changes and air filter replacing. Don't know what I would do without you.
PS Took me forever to find this picture because he is very camera shy.

In other news my bedroom TV died. Now this thing was a TV/VCR in one and I have had it since I was a junior in high school. It has been to the Baylor dorms, every college apartment, my first "adult" apartment once I graduated, and then to my condo when I became a homeowner. I had kind of thought it would never die. But one morning I walked into the room and Good Morning America wasn't on anymore and no amount of hitting the power button brought it back. Since my next TV is going to be wall mounted I had a nook in my bedroom to fill.

Up till now my "home office" has been in the guest bedroom (and I totally do not work from home so except for the infrequent blogging I barely use this space). I'm not a huge fan of this set up, but you do what you can when you're working with a small space. Well now I can move said office to the nook and have my guest room be only for guests (and extra storage space because I really cannot just leave those closets empty, come on). Below are the results of my home office switch-a-roo.

Home office before, in the guest room.

New home office set up in my bedroom.

Up close of the new desk set up in the nook.

For now the desk remains and serves as my scrapbooking spot (which also happens infrequently) since I cannot move this piece of furniture down the stairs by myself. I'll just have to wait until my Dad visits so he can help me move it out and take it with him when he leaves.

Eddie watched the proceedings from the safety of his tent which has also been moved since now my feet have to go under the desk in the nook.

That's all for now! Later.

It's been a while

So I return after a mini vacation from blogger to find all sorts of neat templates and backgrounds and things I can do. So I gave the ole' blog a makeover.

Life has been...whew! Lazy summer days have not hit me yet, I feel busier now than usual.

Better late than never, here are some pics I took with the new camera over Memorial day weekend. I have to say, I was pretty impressed with the camera's ability to get those great action shots, because I know it wasn't me doing anything special.
My sister Carlee and her BFF Kaydee about to set off on a tube ride.

My absolute favorite one. I love the intensity in their faces. Serious business, tubing.

They would do this all day and all night if they had someone to drive them all that time.

Eddie thinks he is a very helpful sailor. I think my Dad begs to differ.

Ginormous snake Eddie and I came across while walking. Minutes after this picture was taking my Dad killed this snake and then my sister and her friend stared at the body for an hour seeing if it would come back to life. Good times.

One very happy lake puppy.

Ok, that's it for now. But in case you were wondering the resolution to my grown up flip flop dilemma, I got the ones from J.Crew with the jewels on them. A little bit fancy, a lot flip flop. Maybe I'll work my way into more grown up sandals. Later!
