Time flies

So I have been trying to blog more faithfully, but my life has been getting in the way of things. To make it up to ya'll below are some things I first found on the Pocket Edward Evil Twins blog (which is hilarious by the way) and when I saw the New Moon preview while watching Harry Potter 6 it made me think of them. Hope you guys can read that. Maybe get your magnifying glasses out.

So in other news I have been playing around on piknik lately. It is totally free (although I hear there are premium options for a fee) and does really cool things to your photos. I turned a picture from last year of my sister on our boat into a picture that looks retro. Can't wait to play more, but the laptop battery is about to die, so I'll have to put it on hold for now.

So I'm going to make a honest attempt to blog more often. Until then!

I-40 Antique Mall

My mom came to visit me this weekend and we did one of our favorite things to do together: antiquing!!

We went to a new antique mall that I just found out about, and man was it full of good stuff.

My mom bought me this awesome vintage camera. I have no clue what time period it is from, but I have always wanted some old cameras to decorate with and now I have started the collection!

It goes great with the old rotary phone that our lakehouse next door neighbors gave me when I was a little kid. Good thing my mom never throws anything away (and owns goo gone to remove the stickers I put on this forever ago), or this phone probably wouldn't still be around.

Next "vintage" item I'll be adding to the collection. My great-grandmother's typewriter. My mom actually wrote her masters thesis on it. She's only giving it to me on the condition that I won't sell it (as if I would). I guess not being a pack rat like she is is a stike against me. Can't wait to see what kind of vintage items I find to decorate with next?

Fireplace issues

So I have this hideous old timey looking stove-ish fireplace in my living room. I really like the exposed brick and it has gas logs which makes it nice for the winter, but the fireplace is not working with my decor. So I had no clue what I was going to do, I mean how do you create a new fireplace on a budget with limited DIY skills? But then I watched a life changing Divine Design on HGTV! Candice Olson is a genius and she actually designed a bedroom with a modern version of my fireplace. Now I just have to figure out how to recreate this in my own.

Not the best shot of the fireplace, but you get the idea.

The room from Divine Design and hopefully something I can recreate in my house.

So that's my plan. Stay tuned to see how it works.
