So this is goodbye...for here

It all started with a knock on my door. It was the AT&T guy offering me the one thing I never knew I couldn't live without: DVR (and for a better price). So I switched right away without a second thought. Until I remembered my email was from my old cable provider...no problem right? I'll just make a gmail email and be on my way. Well blogger is gmail related. So now everytime I try to log in its gets all screwy because you can't change the email account related to your blog (or if you can I can't figure it out) . So thirty minutes later, I'm finally logged in an totally over blogging.

Well I've also been considering making the jump to tumblr for a while. It seems a lot easier to blog from and you can blog from your phone, which means maybe I'll post more.

But I'm worried. Tumblr seems a bit hipster for me. As you all have learned, I tend to go on and on. Can I limit my "genius" to a few one liners because everyone's that I read is short on words? And all this reblogging and stuff, I don't know the tumblr rules. I like to post all my little pictures of home remodeling projects, do tumblr hipsters do that? I can't even figure out how to follow all my home decor blogs on tumblr. What if I miss a crucial tutorial on creating the perfect chippy paint look?

Well there is only one way to find out, so follow me on over to tumblr land at www.livinglifeinlittlerock.tumblr.com and we'll get through this together.

Can't wait to see you all there

These books are for looks

The pup and I had a mini vacation this weekend at my Mom's house. Fun was had by all.

I got one of my Christmas presents early so Mom could be sure I would approve of her color choices.

I have been in love with these books for just about ever. So I decided to throw some hints around and see if anyone wanted to purchase some for me, and someone did!
Now I'm a bit nutty with my book stacking. I don't like for them to all be the same size, which these books obviously are. So I had to find places all over the casa to work these books into my overall scheme. Here they are, enjoy

Living room: The Picture of Dorian Grey (I was totally not trying to be literal by putting a camera on it either, it just looked good)

Also in the living room: Jane Eyre

Master bedroom: Little Women

And guest bedroom: Sense and Sensibility

So I hope you liked that little book tour through my home. I'll leave you with some pics of the pup enjoying his weekend in "grandma's" yard. Later

Fall Flowers

Google: "Fall flowers to plant" and you won't come up with much but website after website of lists of flowers to plant. No pictures, just words.

How on earth am I supposed to plant a Tropaeolum majus in my flower box if I don't even know what it looks like and so can't find it at my local nursery. And you think I'm going to try to say those words? It'll end up sounding like some exotic disease.

I imagine my fall flower box looking something like this, except planted in the ground with the sunflowers kept short (is that possible) and pleasing to the eye.

But I'm pretty sure none of those are actually fall flowers, just fall hues. Which makes me understand the popularity of the mum. I'm pretty sure I'll be planting mums too this fall. *Le sigh* Ok have to get myself off to dreamland, any and all fall flower ideas are welcome here as you can see I am somewhat lost when it comes to gardening. Where Did You Go?

Oh my dears...I wish I could say my lack of blogging will soon get better but I feel like I would be lying to you.

You see I work on the computer all day. And then because of a charity committment I have to come home and email more people and work on more spreadsheets. So my laptop and I are kind of on a break. You know, one of those where you still see each other sometimes and will probably get back together but are seeing what it is like without each other for a while. One of those breaks.

But since I am here I will share a little in progress project I have going on. I've been re-doing the walls in my living/dining room and I have finally made the first steps after thinking about it forever

New "picture ledges" in here to replace an old mirror I bought for my first college apt. Having trouble finding things that are only 2.5 inches deep though. Must shop more

Ok, blogger has decided to flip out and will not let me post my next picture. So this is all you get for now. I will try to upload more later, and hopefully I can get my shelves looking better too for next time. Later

Shop It To Me

So its been a tough week (kind of freaked myself out a bit when I just teared up reading a blog post about a family's sweet adoption celebration party). A little emotional shopping will soothe my soul. But I have to be smart about it since I'm the champagne taste on a beer budget kind of gal. So I do the sample sale website thing: Ideeli, Gilt Groupe, The Outnet. I belong to them all. But this one takes the cake...

Seriously I could kiss the person who invited me to this website. Its fab and simple

1. You set up a profile

2. You pick 5-10 (I'm sure you know which end of the number scale I was on) of your fav brands. And these are the good brands, nothing random here. When I saw Louboutin and Louis Vuitton in the same place as Joe's Jeans I knew I had died and gone to retail heaven.

3. You tell them your sizes for pretty much every piece of clothing or unmentionable you wear

4. You tell them how often to contact you (sadly I do not have time or the willpower to resist if I got them daily)

5. You go on your merry way and they find things for you, in your size, ON SALE!!!!!!!!

Now I know what you're thinking..."I cannot limit myself to only 5-10 brands!" Well ladies, you don't have to. You can show a little gluttony and receive info on all 660 brands they have or you can go in and choose more from your original 5 to 10 starting options.

Then you get an emails showing you the things they selected for you in your size, as if my own personal Rachel Zoe had just culled a list of great things for me. They even list the retailer this sale is available from so you know the item didn't fall off the back of a delivery truck or something. Oh and did I mention they're all ON SALE!!

My first email featured, but was not limited to

This Kate Spade top for $144.75

This Tory Burch dress for $132.50

This Marc by Marc Jacobs blazer for $129.00

{images source: Shop It To Me}

Now I am a recent convert (we're on day two here people) and I have yet to see how quickly the good items go or if it is easy to make a purchase. But I just have a feeling that something this good could never go wrong and I sure was clicking on this email this morning when it popped into my inbox.

So leave me your email address as a comment if you want me to invite you to join. Oh and full disclosure I get a $10 gift card to the retailer of my choice for every 10 people who sign up. So lets go people, the deals of a lifetime are waiting for you! Later

I'm home in TX for the labor day weekend, relaxing and enjoying the gorgeous weather. In fact it is time to go sit outside with someone because he cannot bear to be inside another minute. Later

Happy Sunday

"You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter"... Oh my inner teenage girl is jumping gleefully with joy, a new Taylor Swift song/video is out and this one makes me tear up just a bit, dang country music videos...

And in other news scoot over to Parasol for the August free download (if you love cute stationary this one is for you) Anchors, dots, and stars, yes please!

Ok that's all for now, I have to work on Holiday House stuff. I can't believe it is only two months away. Eeeek! Later

Rainy Saturday

Its stormy today. Perfect day for catching up on the blogverse. Oh and please please please let the rain cool things down. Another day of hot humid weather is just one too many.

In other news, I am one of those people who constantly tears pages out of magazines and catalogs. It doesn't matter who the magazine belongs to doctor's office, nail salon, something someone loaned me if the page has something on it I need to remember its coming with me.

But then what do you do with all these pieces of paper? Well my little habit may have solved the issue for me. Since I came across this adorable bulletin board in one of my "tear sheets" from Lucky magazine. The website Kikkerland Design has so many cute and quirky items for GREAT prices. This bulletin board is only $20 and 2% of the proceeds go to treenation to help plant more trees in the world. Bonus!

Also going to have to buy this little cutie. I've always been obsessed with polar bears and at $5 I can't resist him.

So head on over there today, who knows what you might find.

Oh and my co-blogger also worked very hard on this post, as you can see.

Me Time

Came home to one of my favorite pieces of mail waiting for me... the Pottery Barn catalog. Now this is just the Bed and Bath version, I assume my fall one is on its way to me traveling through mail land. But this one had more than enough to keep my happy. Here are my favs.

Not gonna pay $129 for 3 5x7 frames (sorry PB) but I can find frames with all this detailing and paint and sand them myself for a lot cheaper. Great idea!

Apparently I'm a little obsessed with pillows embroidered with French sayings

{all images from Pottery Barn}

Oh and everyone on my Christmas list is getting those little soaps, so get ready.

Ok, gotta dash off. Rachel Zoe is on and it would be "BANANAS" if I missed an episode. Later

Lucky Dog

Today was a good day for the pup.

Playing with his brand new toy which is cute and makes a chirping sound like a real bird. Any of you who are sick of ugly dog toys (I mean a rubber chicken, really?) head over to Pets Mart they have a new Martha Stuart designed collection and it looks good lying on the floor of your house too, finally!

We also made homemade dog treats. Guess who got to eat the left over dough?

In my next life can I come back as one of my pets? They've got it made.

Black Eyed Peas

AMAZING. I never would hve gone to this show if it hadn't been offered up as a New York market week excursion

I am so glad I went, it is one of my top 5 concerts of all time. Dang can they put on a show. And the concert was actually in New Jersey so I got to fist pump in NJ, just like on the Jersey Shore ;)

Our seats were incredible, so instead of me talking a ton I'll let the pictures show you what we enjoyed. Warning, there are lots of pictures, but come on I had to get all of Fergie's outfits in their gloriousness.
Oh and I really feel like this is the first time my camera really showed me what it can do. I'm impressed with it.

Ok, so blogger is kind of starting to freak out on me, maybe there is a limit to the amount of pictures you can upload. Good thing I was done. Later.

Yankees Game

NY market week was amazing. Lots of work happening, but also some fun.

Tuesday night we went to the Yankees game. We didn't get to see ARod hit his 600th home run (he did that the next day) but it was still pretty fun.

27, for the number of World Series they have won.

All right, that's all I have for now. Stay tuned though, I have pictures from Wednesday night's Black Eyed Peas concert to share with you next time. Later
